Sanborn, Portland, Me., 1950, which states, "Along in the middle of the nineteenth century, instigated by the efforts of Reverend Cyril Pearl, the Town of Baldwin for a short period enjoyed the luxury of a high school. About the only existing evidence of that fact is a copy of a publication gotten out by the school which bears the following caption..."
